I asked our partners to tell me about the different models they have for using Ball Project balls to help kids play.
This is from SCAS, one of our South African partners located in Stellenbosch. They are doing some great work in & around Stellenbosch & Cape Town, & they are doing some great work consulting & training community leaders & sports people around Africa & the world.

Model 1: Local Community
In the beautiful Jonkershoek Valley, where I am working, is a soccer team that are practicing twice a weak in the late afternoons to accommodate young men that are working during the day on the farms. About 17 of them are now playing because they have more than one ball to play with due to the donation of Ball Project. There is not really more than these for these 17 plus men to do, options are very limited.
Model 2: Church
A month ago I met a very young and vibrant Pastor of a church in Stellenbosch during a breakfast. Got to the subject of them having 18 young members (coaches) from their church involved in a local community nearby. They approached the community and a local school offering their coaching skills to keep the kids busy and of the street from gangsters and drugs. Very successful model as the kids weekly just got more, because kids love to play… their need was sporting equipment, and again due to Ball projects donation I could offer to help them regarding that to get more teams and more kids playing. As a NGO it was great to give something to the church instead of asking for them to give something to us.
Model 3: Farming Community
After receiving a random e-mail via our website requesting help with coaching courses for rugby and netball from a farming organization that are driven by multiple owners to give their workers a holistic well-being, sport one part of it, it was great for me to approach a partner called 4 Lines who have done that in offering a week course of coaching skills. This led to the discovery again that there is a need for equipment. Again due to Ball Project’s donation I could offer help with that, and help the teams to play.
In all 3 of these models we are one of multiple partners now, we have something to offer to the bigger picture of a healthy lifestyle for the people that are playing and again all due to Ball Project’s donation. These are partnerships for life: local community, church, coaches, kids, schools, farms and you.
