Here is a short report from Nou Hope, one of our partners in Haiti:

Greetings. I was able to get more news and photos from previous funds dispersed to partners in Port au Prince for equipment purchased (through Foundations for Haitians). They purchased a basketball hoop and ball as well as a soccer goal (for street soccer) and a ball…. One thing to note is that even the really nice (and expensive balls) purchased in country don’t last long in the elements in Haiti. That’s been a bummer. Thank you!!

Even high quality soccer balls don’t last long on the dirt & rock soccer fields where a lot of our partners work. But they keep working & so do we. & the children keep playing. We are grateful for our partners around the world working hard to help children by helping children play.

Here is a short update from a group from Bloomington, Indiana that went to Brazil to help some local groups working in their communities:

We all wanted to thank you for your donation to us for the soccer balls and equipment we took down to Brazil…. We left half of them with a small church in the slums we worked with for most of the week and sent the rest to another church in Rio with an after school program.

We packed down over a dozen balls, three pumps, 2 goals, cones, and colored jerseys into one Adidas duffel bag.

“One night, before we had started our life skills and life values study with the kids, we had some down time and I decided it was time to test these little Brazilians’ soccer skills. Me and a small army of kids made our way to the soccer field across the street and played soccer for over an hour in the pouring rain. It is one of the coolest memories I have of the trip.” –J F, Indiana University Sophomore

Here is part of a Q4 2014 report from one of our Ball Project partners in Nepal:

“Ball Project has helped us to purchase the poles (soccer goal posts) and also the balls which were given to the northern part of Nepal where the kids loved it and the community gave us the warm welcome. Even a single ball can make a big difference in the relationship with the community.”

& a question from our partner: “There are many places in northern Nepal where ball games are not played. Do you have some plans for them too??”

Any ideas for good games without balls for our friends in northern Nepal?

As always, we are very grateful for our partners , advisors & donors who help children by helping children play.
