Ball Project provided $300 recently for us to purchase basketball, volleyballs, and soccer balls for a community sports camp here in Albuquerque. This was the first major project that our local community sports team has attempted, and it went really well!
We did a 3-day sports camp for around 35 kids in the International District, a neighborhood in Albuquerque synonymous with crime, poverty, gang activity, and hopelessness. We partnered together with a local Hispanic church, an after school program, a local basketball coach, and SportQuest.
Together we were able to provide an excellent experience for these kids that was fun, that helped them play and be active, and that gave them hope. Each day we focused on a specific word: Passion, Perseverance, and Purpose, and we shared a faith story. The kids loved it, and many of them will stay involved with our local organizations and opportunities (church, after school program, basketball skill development, etc.).
This event was such an encouragement to our team, and now we are dreaming about the next step in the development of our team as well as in serving this community. A huge thanks to Ball Project for providing the sports equipment for this project! That was a great blessing and encouragement to us!
Ball Project is thankful for our partners around the world, like this community sports team in Albuquerque, for helping children play.
One of our partners in Nepal is a drug & alcohol rehab center in Kathmandu.
This is just some of the truth they put on the walls as reminders.
