Here is a short update from one of our partners in Portugal:
We run and operate ‘surf camp.’ Our strategy is to reach the surf, skate and student populations for community transformation through surf and skate. Once a week, we take boards and suits down to the beach. We engage all sorts of people, from seasoned surfers to underprivileged beach bums to curious tourists. We give them a free lesson and invite them to dinner. We tell them who we are, what we do, and what we are trying to accomplish. Through this program (and with the help of the Ball Project to purchase more surf equipment) we have seen about 10 come to join us in relationship, leading to all sorts of positive symptoms in their lives. Our group has grown to an average of 45 people. We are very thankful and excited for the continued impact we are getting to have in Porto.
As always, we are thankful for our partners, advisers, donors & coaches for helping children by helping children play.
